Where: Neighborhood Pet Clinic – www.npcvet.com
12616 NW 36th Ave. Vancouver WA 98685
How much? This is a free event for clients of Neighborhood Pet Clinic. Donations are welcome and appreciated for future groups.
Who is this group for? This group is suitable for you if:
- You have recently lost a pet
- You have lost a pet in the past
- You are anticipating the death of a pet
- Adults only please
- You do not need to have any previous art experience
Why would this be group be healing for me? One of the best ways to work through grief when losing a pet is to create a memorial for them with art. The current research shows that creating art and healing come from the same source, emitting the same powerful brain wave patterns. Art helps to reduce stress, to ease pain, and gives a voice to unknown emotions, feelings and behaviors. This group will create a special time to share your stories with others and honor the human-animal bond.
JOCELYN FITZGERALD, LMFT, ATR-BC, is a licensed psychotherapist, an art therapist and an animal lover in private practice in downtown Vancouver. She has extensive experience working with people who are dealing with depression, anxiety and the pain of grief and loss.
